I am Isabelle. I am French and live near Seattle, WA with my American husband and our 5 year old daughter. I spent the first 24 years of my life in Provence where I grew up and went to college before coming to the US as an Au-pair. I was only supposed to stay for a year but I met my husband, got married, had a baby, and have been living happily as a stay-at-home mom ever since. As a military family -my husband is in the US Coast Guard- we have moved many times in the past few years. So far we have lived in Washington D.C., Virginia, Florida and Washington state, all in the past 8 years!
I started this blog in October 2009 to document my newly acquired passion for cooking. Before then, I wasn’t much of a cook at all. As a matter of fact I was rather challenged in that area! Up until a few months ago, I only cooked very basic things, most of which included pasta. But as time went by, I found myself to be more and more culinarily adventurous and have been enjoying trying new recipes and blogging about my adventures in the kitchen. One of the reasons why I now enjoy cooking so much is my friend Maia. She passed her love of cooking on to me and I now read cookbooks until late at night as if they were novels!
My eyes are very sensitive to onion and my hands to jalapeño. I also seem to always find a way to burn myself. There is never a dull moment in my kitchen! I have found a tremendous amount of joy from cooking and baking. The best part of it all is seeing my daughter develop a taste for unusual foods and telling me how much she likes my new recipes. She has developed a star system to rate my food and I almost always get “100 stars”! She also never fails to let me know when something is not up to her standards!
With this blog, I hope to not only share recipes, but also my experiences -good and bad- as someone fairly new to cooking and baking. I would love to be able to inspire others to try new recipes. You will find that most of the recipes on this blog contain lots of pictures and I think I may go a little overboard sometimes but I have always found that seeing lots of pictures along with a recipe help me tremendously. I also love photography!
Love to have found your blog. I’ll be adding it to my blogroll.
Thank you so much
